014. Dr. Somer Nicole: How To Stay Grounded While Being A Healer

At some point in our lives, we all need help. We need somebody to lift us from the darkness and show us the light. We need a friend to believe in us when we have lost hope. When I was living on Kaua’i, Dr. Somer was the help I needed. I was stuck in my trauma and I was overwhelmed by my bipolar diagnosis. I found Somer at one of the lowest points in my life. She was my first Kundalini Yoga teacher and after class, she told me all about studying Kundalini in India with Gurmkuh. Six months later, I found myself in India, completing teacher training with Gurmukh.

After taking a class with Somer, I learned that she was so much more than a teacher. Somer is a doctor of physical therapy, cranial-sacral therapist, somatic and emotional release and reiki energy healer. I began working with Somer to heal my old traumas and reconnect to my inner truth. During one of our sessions, I remember lying down on the table and suddenly my body jolted up into a seated position, I looked at her in the eyes and said, “I am not bipolar anymore. That was just a phase of my life.” It was over two years ago that I made that statement. Since then I have not had a manic or depressive episode.
